About Mel and Eric
We’ve lived at Castle Mill Cottage since 1988, when we moved to the peaceful Ceiriog Valley from the humdrum of Bradford, West Yorkshire. Since then, we’ve discovered the joys and the quirks of valley life:
- the local garden society with its annual competitions for the weird and wonderful – from best honey to the ‘monster made from vegetables’ award – both winners in the Robinson house!
- the art of herding and catching the ‘houdini-inspired’ sheep and the pleasure in spring as the lambs gambol in the lush grass
- community spirit in abundance with village parties, duck races, school fetes, carol services and the very memorable murder mystery party at Pontfadog primary school!
- the visitors who have stayed with us: friends, family, Eisteddfod choir members from all over the world, hikers, holiday-makers and business people.
If you love animals, you’ll love Jake and Daisy – our two rescue dogs who love long walks in the Ceiriog Valley, across Chirk Aqueduct, Oswestry racecourse, Llangollen canal… in fact anywhere they could find a lake to jump into or a muddy puddle to sit in!
And if you’re not a doggy fan, just let us know – Daisy and Jake are never happier than when they’re playing in the garden, snoozing in their kennel, or sunning themselves in the conservatory!
If you’d like to know more about our home, our delicious breakfasts, comfortable lodgings or the area, please do get in touch, and we hope to see you soon at Castle Mill Bed and Breakfast.
